Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed both the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.

Note: Candidates who have appeared or are yet to appear for the final M.B.B.S. exam are also eligible to apply provisionally.

  • Candidates who have not yet completed their compulsory rotating internship are eligible for admission but will only be appointed after completing it.

2. Age Limit (as of August 1, 2026)

  • General Limit: Must not have attained the age of 32 years (born not earlier than August 2, 1994).

  • For Medical Officers (Central Health Service): The upper age limit is 35 years.

  • Age Relaxation:

    • SC/ST: Up to 5 years.

    • OBC: Up to 3 years.

    • PwBD: Up to 10 years.

    • Ex-Servicemen: Up to 5 years.

3. Nationality

  • A candidate must be a Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee (who arrived before Jan 1, 1962), or a person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries .

Total Vacancies

The total tentative number of vacancies is 1,358, distributed as follows:

Category-I:

  • Medical Officers Grade in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-cadre of Central Health Service: 864 posts.

Category-II:

  • Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways: 450 posts.

  • General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC): 14 posts.

  • General Duty Medical Officer Grade-II in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD): 30 posts.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination (500 Marks): Two objective-type papers, each carrying 250 marks and lasting two hours.

  2. Personality Test (100 Marks): Conducted for candidates who qualify in the written examination.

  3. Penalty for Wrong Answers: There is a negative marking of one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question for every incorrect answer.
